Website Privacy Statement

This policy establishes how our organization will use information we gather about you from your visit to our website. The privacy of our visitors is of the utmost importance to our organization.

If you visit one of our websites…

  1. To participate, read or download information:
    1. We may collect and store information for statistical purposes. For example, we may count the number of visitors to the different pages on our website to help make those, future pages and related content more useful to visitors. This information does not identify you personally. We automatically collect and store only the following information about your visit:
      1. The internet domain (for example, “verizon.com” if someone uses a private internet access account, or “aschool.edu” if someone connects from a university’s domain), any search terms someone may have entered to get to our site, and the IP address (an IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to a computer whenever someone is surfing the web) from which they access our website;

      3. The date and time they accessed our site;
      4. The pages they visit; and
      5. If they visited this website from a link on another website and the address of that website.
  2. To send us an email:
    1. By sending us an email, signing a petition or an online contact request (herein: email), you may be sending us personal information such as your name, address, email address plus, whatever message you put in your email. We may store your email in order to respond to your request or otherwise resolve the subject matter of the email. Under limited circumstances, including requests from Pacifica (Legitimate interest), Congress (Legal obligation) or private individuals, we may be required by rules or law to disclose the information you submit (this has never happened, but it theoretically could). Remember that email is not necessarily secure against interception. If your communication is very sensitive, or includes personal information like your Social Security Number, you might want to send it by postal mail or give it to us in person.
  3. To register:
    1. Our website asks visitors and guests to fill out petitions, subscription forms and other registration forms. Other information collected at websites through questionnaires, feedback forms, or other means, enables us to determine visitors’ interests, with the goal of providing better service to visitors and friends.

The information that you provide on our Website will be used only for its intended purpose, except as required by law or if pertinent to judicial or governmental investigations or proceedings.

Regardless of the information being transmitted to us, we will protect all such information consistent with the highest legal standards and ethical principles of freedom and fairness in privacy.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

E-Newsletter Privacy Statement

Pacifica Democracy Project values your privacy! We NEVER SELL, RENT or LOAN out your name or private information to anyone, ever! We do have a newsletter and do send email announcements. Parts of our faction can request that we send information to you. However, we do not allow those parts to have a copy of your subscription, themselves. We send individual emails from our employees to you as part of any support requests that you have initiated, or in case we have to contact you about work we are doing on your behalf. In any event, you can report abuse to: abuse@pacifica-democracy-project.org or you can lodge a complaint directly with our network provider GPowerHost: Abuse Desk.

Who we share your data with

Where we send/share your data

We will only share your personal information in the following circumstances:

Sharing with other parts of the Pacifica Democracy Project national movement
Pacifica Democracy Project is one part of a movement. Our movement is made up of several membership organizations working to better Pacifica and its stations. Some of these bodies are formally constituted and others not. We may share your information with these entities who may then use your personal information in connection with their activities. For example, if you have expressed an interest in joining Pacifica Democracy Project or sign a petition, we may share your contact details with your local Pacifica Democracy Project organization. Additionally, each petition has a “targeted recipient” such as, Pacifica and when you submit your signature to a petition you are also simultaneously causing an email to be sent to that targeted recipient with all of the details that you provided upon clicking a button like, “Sign Now”.

How long we retain your data

For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. Additionally, upon the submission of a petition signature by you, there is a “targeted recipient” such as, Pacifica, to whom the petition is directed and sent and we have no control over your data with that intended third-party. Contact that “targeted recipient” for any requests related to prior submissions made by you.

Cookies

Pacifica Democracy Project does use cookies to store information about visitor preferences, record user-specific information on which pages a user accesses or visits, customize web page content based on visitor browser type or other information that the visitor sends via their browser.

Google reCAPTCHA

ReCAPTCHA collects personal information from users to make this determination of whether they are human and not a bot to prevent SPAM. The reCAPTCHA algorithm checks to see if there is a Google cookie placed on the computer being used. An additional reCAPTCHA-specific cookie will then be added to the user’s browser allowing a complete snapshot of the user’s browser window at that moment in time.

Information gathered includes:

  • All cookies placed by Google over the last 6 months
  • How many mouse clicks you’ve made on that screen (or touches on a touch device)
  • The CSS information for that page
  • The date
  • The language your browser is set to
  • Any plugins you have installed on the browser
  • All Javascript objects

Pacifica Democracy Project has no access to, or control over, these cookies that are used by third-parties such as Google reCAPTCHA. You should consult the respective privacy policies of the above third-parties for more detailed information on their practices as well as for instructions about how to opt-out from certain practices. Pacifica Democracy Project’s Privacy Policy does not apply to, and we cannot control the activities of, such other web sites. Third Party Websites

On our website we sometimes have links to third party websites or applications. This policy does not apply to such pages or applications hosted or operated by other organizations. This includes the websites or applications of Pacifica or its stations or related organizations or third party sites. These other sites may have their own privacy policies which apply to them.
